Flowers Are Labour, Not Just Stems

Most couples are surprised by floral quotes because they price the flowers, not the design, conditioning, installation and removal that surround them.

Spend Where People Look

  • The bouquet, because it appears in every photograph
  • The ceremony focal point, seen by everyone for the longest continuous stretch
  • Table centrepieces, seen up close for hours

Everything else is optional.

Move Arrangements

Ceremony arrangements can be repurposed at the reception. A florist who plans for this can halve what you need. Just confirm somebody is responsible for moving them.

Choose Seasonal and Local

Out-of-season blooms are imported and priced accordingly. Ask your florist what's abundant in your wedding month and let them lead. Seasonal flowers are also fresher and last longer.

Use Structure and Greenery

Foliage, branches and candles fill space beautifully at a fraction of the cost of dense flowers. A greenery runner with candlelight reads as generous, not cheap.

Fewer, Larger Statements

Three large arrangements make more impact than fifteen small ones, and cost less to make.

Be Honest About Numbers

Tell your florist your total budget rather than asking them to quote blind. A good florist will design to a real figure and tell you exactly what it buys.
